Barbara Jean Morehead's Birthday

Barbara Jean Moreheard's agent convinced the aspiring actress to change her name to Barbara Eden. The former Miss San Francisco first appeared on television when she was seventeen in a bit part in the 1953 sit-com Private Secretary. She eventually became the most popular television actress of the 1960s, primarily due to her iconic role in the 60s sitcom I Dream of Jeannie (1965 to 1970). Although she made 59 movies and countless prime time television episode appearances, her harem-costumed, girl in the bottle image will always remain nearly every man's fantasy in the 60s fantasizing  that he was her "master" instead of Larry Hagman. Her minimal costume left her navel exposed, and that was considered so racy at the time that network executives insisted that her belly button be filled in with putty,

In her biography, Jeannie Out of the Bottle , we are reminded that "There are still Jeannie machines in casinos all over America. There are Jeannie board games. There's even a Jeannie porn film!" She also tells us that she turned down $1 million to pose for Playboy and that she rejected the sexual advances of John F Kennedy, Elvis, and Warren Beatty.

Barbara also appeared in nearly 50 B films including Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea (1961), 7 Faces of Dr. Lao (1954),
The Wonderful  World of the Brothers Grimm (1962),The Brass Bottle (1964), A Howling in the Woods (1971), and Harper Valley P.T.A. (1978). She has the unique distinction of appearing in at least one episode of nearly every major television hit show for nearly 20 years including: Perry Mason (1957), Gunsmoke (1957), Father Knows Best (1957), The Andy Griffith Show (1962), Dr. Kildare (1963), Rawhide (1963), and The Virginian (1963).

Barbara is also a talented singer, and has starred in several musical comedy stage plays including The Sound Of Music, Annie Get Your Gun. South Pacific ,The Pajama Game, and Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. From 2000 until 2004. she starred in the national touring production of the play The Odd Couple...The Female Version playing the role of the neat one - Florence Unger

A fitting reminder of her infamous navel controversy with her Jeannie harem-costume, a popular Turkish dessert, Kadin GÖbegi (Lady's Navels), seems appropriate for Barbara's birthday while watching the TV reunion film I Still Dream of Jeannie (1991) to catch a glimpse of her controversial naval.
