Brian Hugh Warner's Birthday

When Brian Warner was associate editor at Fort Lauderdale's 25th Parallel Magazine, he also formed a band called  Marilyn Manson and the Spooky Kids. The 'Spooky Kids' part of the name was dropped in 1992. In his autobiography, The Long Hard Road Out of Hell, Brian  took his stage name from Marilyn Monroe and Charles Manson. According to  Brian/Marilyn,  "I picked that (Marilyn Manson) as the fakest stage name of all to say that this is what show business is, fake. Marilyn Monroe wasn't even her real name, Charles Manson isn't his real name, and now, I'm taking that to be my real name. But what's real? You can't find the truth, you just pick the lie you like the best. As long as you know everything's a lie, you can't hurt yourself."

With the success, Brian/Marilyn became a controversial celebrity because of some of the Satanic messages in his songs. He also began a relationship with the multi-tattooed  burlesque star Dita Von Teese, and soon eventually married her in in a castle in Ireland on November 28, 2005,. On December 30, 2006, Dita  filed for divorce due to "irreconcilable differences." ET.com and People claimed that Brian was having an extramarital affair with then 19-year-old actress Evan Rachel Wood.  The relationship was confirmed by Dita  in an interview with the Sunday Telegraph, "I get the impression he thinks I was unsupportive, but the truth is I wasn't supportive of his lifestyle, and someone else came along who was." Marilyn's alcohol abuse and distant behavior were also cited as cause for the split."

Brian/Marilyn also wrote songs for several movies including From Hell (2001), Resident Evil (2002), Bowling for Columbine (2002),  and The Matrix Reloaded (2003).  He also acted in such movies as Jawbreaker (1999), Bowling for Columbine (2002), Party Monster (1998), and The Heart Is Deceitful Above All Things (2004). Johnny Depp reportedly used him as his inspiration for his performance as Willy Wonka in the film Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2003).

In 2007, Brian/Marilyn launched his own brand of absinthe, titled Mansinthe, which was awarded a gold medal out of a group of ten absinthes entered into the largest and most important spirits competition in the USA.  So it seems appropriate to chose a classic absinthe treat to celebrate Brian/Marilyn's birthday, and watching him as Christina Superstar in Party Monster
