Larry Edwin Craig's  Birthday

There have been many famous scandals in the US Congress, but few reach the under-stall depths in Larry Craig's disgrace after serving 18 years in the Senate and ten years before that in the US House.

But after  news reports that Craig had been arrested for soliciting some same-stall action from a plainclothes cop. According to the Airport Police Department report by Sgt. Dave Karsnia,  Larry appeared versed in the subtle signs of seeking a stall assignation, from under-the-divider hand motions to some furtive footsie.

Larry insisted upon his innocence, disputing the officer's version of the event by stating that he merely had a "wide stance" and that he had been picking a piece of paper from the floor. He later signed the petition to enter his guilty plea, which contained the provisions, "I understand that the court will not accept a plea of guilty from anyone who claims to be innocent... I now make no claim that I am innocent of the charge to which I am entering a plea of guilty."

Although he initially planned on resigning his seat (his Senate seat and not the euphemism for his ass) that he would serve out his Senate term,. Larry  did not seek reelection in 2008 and left office on January 3, 2009.

Both the 2009 documentary Outrage and the magazine Newsweek listed Craig, among several others, as a prominent conservative politician who had a record of anti-gay legislation and then caught in a gay sex scandal

Larry's alleged interest is having his wiener serviced appears to be a metaphor for one of his favorite dishes - the Super Tuber, which Larry has described as "a great snack that uses one of my favorite vegetables: The Idaho Potato. Of course, I suppose any type of potato could be used, but I cannot guarantee that a Super Tuber made with anything but a true Idaho potato would taste as good."

So for Idaho's new candidate for Mr. Potato (in the) Head,  here is Larry's own recipe which you may enjoy while watching Outrage.
