Benjamin Todd Roethlisberger's Birthday

"Big Ben" Roethlisberger is a quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers and earned the AP NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2004.
In the era of the big quarterback, no one is bigger than the 6/5" 240 pound Ben Roethlisberger. He started in the second week of his rookie season, and won each of his starts on the way to a 15-1 record.

At
age of 23 in his second professional season, "Big Ben" became the youngest Super Bowl–winning quarterback in NFL history helping lead the Steelers,to a 21-10 victory over the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl XL. With the victory, Roethlisberger, became the youngest quarterback to win the Super Bowl.

Ben plays best  under pressure. He stays in the pocket and has the ability to deliver the ball with strength and accuracy, even when he gets creamed. He also knows when it’s time to run. His composure in these situations turnsbroken plays into first downs. There are few players who can match Ben’s cool decision-making and execution under stress.

There were reports of a Big Ben's possible loss of  his cool decision making in March 2010. when a 20-year-old woman accused Roethlisberger of sexually assaulting her inside the bathroom of a Georgia nightclub. There were rumors that he may have touted some of this other attributes to the girl that have also earned him the nickname "Big Ben". The Steelers' star met with the local police and denied any assault and no charges were filed.

Some fans might assume that Ben was just promoting another sausage to the girl -
the sausage, beef, and egg sandwich called the Roethlisburger (with just one alteration in the spelling of his name). Technically, since the sausage and ground beef are not in a patty, the sandwich is not a burger, but it was the only logical choice for a name. Considering the hundreds of sandwiches named after sports celebrities in their home towns, the Roethlisburger has really caught on nationally and is on the menus in more than thirty cities. There are the usual conflicting claims on who invented the Roethlisburger but the best bet is Lou Bosser and Jeff Trebac who own Peppi’s Old Time Sandwich Shops in Pittsburgh.  In 2004, they had a beef, sausage and egg sandwich with no name. About the same time Pittsburgh inserted its rookie, Ben Roethlisberger, as quarterback into the line-up. It soon became obvious to Peppi’s crew that "Roethlisburger" would be the best name for its nameless sandwich. After his Super Bowl XL win, the previous nameless sandwich became a national favorite in football towns throughout the country.

While enjoying
a Roethlisburger, be sure to watch Ben and some other of his Pittsburgh Steelers teammates take the field as extras in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises (2013) in a scene at their home stadium, Heinz Field. The film uses Pittsburgh as a stand-in for Gotham "I'm kind of getting everybody together" Ben told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "I heard it's going to be a neat thing at the stadium. I don't think it will be a big part, it's not like we're chasing Batman down or anything."
