Anni-Frid Synni Lyngstad-Fredricksson-Andersson-Reuss's Birthday

Anni-Frid "Frida" Synni Lyngstad

Anni-Frid "Frida" Synni Lyngstad was born in Norway after her mother had an affair with a German officer during World War II.  Her mother moved across the border to s small town in Sweden when Frida was two years old to escape post-war retributions against presumed Nazi collaborators.

Frida started working as an vocalist with a small dance band and soon got a better offer from a larger well-known band  where she met Ragnar Fredriksson whom she married when she was 17. Frida and Ragnar soon left the band and formed their own group, Anni-Frid Four.  I
n 1967, Frida won the Swedish national talent competition in Stockholm which included a recording a recording contract with EMI Sweden Leaving her husband and two small children behind, Frida moved to Stockholm where met Benny Andersson and they soon became lovers. They later teamed up with another couple, Björn Ulvaeus and Agnetha Fältskog. to became one of the most famous pop  music groups of all times - ABBA.  The name ABBA was comprised of the first letters of the first names of the group's members: Agnetha Fältskog, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson, and Anni-Frid Lyngstad.

'Frida's marriage to Benny lasted only three years. In 1992, she married a German nobleman, Prince Heinrich Ruzzo Reuss of Plauen and officially became Anni-Frid Prinzessin Reuss von Plauen. Although she didn't become "A Dancing Queen" which was ABBA's signature song and one of the most successful singles of the 1970s, Frida was officially a dancing princess and danced all the way to her Swiss bank with her share of ABBA'a royalties.

So on Anni-Frid Synni Lyngstad-Fredricksson-Andersson-Reuss's birthday, make one of the popular, but short-lived drinks of the 70a - the Dancing Queen cocktail ,watch ABBA: The Movie (1977). and wonder why disco ever died.
