Destiny Hope Cyrus legally changed her name from Destiny Hope to
Miley in
January 2008 after her Disney TV series Hannah Montana franchise
made her one of the biggest teen stars in decades. The series premiered
on March 26, 2006 to the largest audience ever for a Disney Channel show
and soon became one of the highest-rated series on basic cable, Time
magazine reported that Cyrus's "phenom[enal]" success is due partially
to her talent and partially to "Disney learning to use its vast,
multimedia holdings" and market Cyrus and Hannah Montana
appropriately. However. much of her success was based on her her
godmother's (Dolly Parton) advice to Miley's mother to sign her with the
Morey Management Group.
Then came some some successful films and several hit recordings and Miley's nominations for Golden Globe Award Awards for some of her songs. Myley had became the first Walt Disney star to have deals in television, film, consumer products, and music Billy Rae Cyrus's little girl had gained the stardom that had eluded him.
But little girls are always anxious to grow up and Miley was no
exception. With daddy's consent, she posed semi-nude at age 15 for Annie Leibovitz for
the now infamous
Vanity Fair
cover which exploited her to just to increase sales in a sagging
publishing economy.Then pictures were
released
of her participating in underage drinking. After these photos flooded the internet, nightclubs
in Montreal that cater to the younger crowd began serving a
drink called the "Miley
Ray", a conjunction of
Miley's and Billy Ray's names. |
