Michael Dale Huckabee's Birthday

Mike Huckabee, former Evangelical preacher, former Governor of Arkansas, former Republican Presidential candidate, bandleader, Fox News commentator, and Superman critic might have been elected US President in 2012. In a November 2009 Gallup poll, Mike was shown as the leading Republican contender for 2012.In November 2010 CNN projected in a poll that Mike would defeat Barack Obama in a hypothetical 2012 contest. in a Rasmussen poll taken January 11–14, 2011, Huckabee was even with Barack: 43% - 43%.

On his Fox News weekend talk show called Huckabee. Mike explained that "All the factors say go, but my heart says no.” The much anticipated announcement was preceded by an appearance by Saved by the Bell's Mario Lopez and musician Ted Nugent with whom Mike played bass alongside Ted on “Cat Scratch Fever.”

Fox News has been a platform for his pop culture/political forays including his May 2011 attack on DC comics and Superman in an on-air tirade against Action Comics #900 in which Superman renounces his US citizenship. Mike explained that “Well it is a comic book, but, it is disturbing that Superman who has always been an American icon is now saying I’m not going to be a citizen. I think it’s a part of a bigger trend of Americans almost apologizing for being Americans... .Here’s the point that I think we need to make from a policy standpoint, this idea that if we quit being so American our enemies will love us. What kind of idiocy is that? That’s not going to make them love us more. They don’t hate us just because we are Americans. They hate us because we represent everything they consider to be horrible, individual freedom, individual responsibility, a sense in which we have liberties that are not confined to somebody else’s idea of what we ought to be doing with our every moment of every day.”

Unfortunately Mike forgot that Superman was an illegal alien. He was was born Kal-El on the planet Krypton, before being rocketed to Earth as an infant by his scientist father Jor-El, moments before Krypton's destruction. and discovered and adopted by a Kansas farmer and his wife. Mike's confusion with the alternate universe of Action Comics and the alternate universe of Republican politics is easy to understand. It should also be noted that Sarah Palin, Mike's Supergirl, had similar observations on Superman's criminal pronouncement.

But on Mike's birthday, let's return to less comic times when he was the 300+ lb governor of Arkansas, and lost 115 lbs on a mysterious diet. So we tracked down one of his favorite recipes, Huckabee's Hot and Happy Cajun Jambalaya, for his birthday celebration which we recommend scarfing down while viewing a video of I Heart Huckabees (2004). As a side note, Mike tell us that " For suggested seasonings, I recommend Tony Chachere's Cajun seasoning (I use it instead of salt and pepper for just about everything). In my opinion, there must be Tabasco sauce. The table isn't set and the dinner isn't ready until the Tabasco is available! The jambalaya is good when freshly made, but actually is better several hours (or even a day) after it's cooked when all of the ingredients have "merged" into a wonderful and filling feast."
