Fedde le Grand's Birthday

One of the most popular international DJ stars is Fedde le Grand. He is also a well-known record producer whose single "Put Your Hands Up For Detroit"  hit number one on the UK's singles and the top 5 in the Dutch singles chart.  International party scene enthusiasts may recall that the recording won the award as the #1 summer anthem of Ibiza in 1996. "Put Your Hands Up For Detroit" is mixed with Madonna's music during the opening of Madonna's live show.

Since 1998, Fedde as played in almost every well-known club in The Netherlands and he is considered to be one of the most energetic and danceable DJs around. Le Grand has also played in the UK, France, Germany, Spain, Russia, Greece, and Israel. where he can be found next to people such as Deep Dish, Audio Bullies, Tenaglia, and Victor Calderone. In 2003, Fedde started to collaborate with DJ Erick E as Sticky People and produced  the tracks for the PlayStation 2 game Cyclone Circus.

Fedde is also one of the innovators of the concept of Sneakerz with different venues with three areas throughout the Netherlands, all with their own sound, and a chance given to upcoming talent performing together with famous DJs. Sneakerz started off at ‘De Rechter’ in Eindhoven and it has grown into one of the most popular clubbing nights all over The Netherlands.

Fedde had a highly successful 2010 word tour performances and played Las Vegas, Los Angeles,  Chicago, San Francisco, Seattle , Miami, Lausanne, Lyon, Munich, Bangkok, Jakarta, São Paulo  Casablanca, Berlin, Budapest, Birmingham, Düsseldorf  Hong Kong, Singapore, Québec, Toronto,  Ibiza, and  London,  Unfortunately he had just finished his set at the Love Parade in Duisburg, Germany iwhen 20 people were crushed to death at the entrance to the festival grounds.

To celebrate Fedde's birthday, we suggest making Fedde del Cancellieri. This is another Sicilian specialty reflecting their penchant for naming many of their popular foods after body parts.  Although literally translated as buttocks, Fedde is also translated as sweet cakes. Ironically, these cheeky desserts were originally popularized by nuns from the convent of Santa Trinita del Cancelliere in Sicily who make them in oval-shaped moulds hinged like a mussel shell, and filled them with  custard.  There are historical records that they were a favorite of the Marquis de Sade who had his wife order them from the nuns.

Although we have no suggested film we recommend tracking down one of the promo videos of Fedde's OUTPUT World Tour and the Flamingo Nights.
