When Alecia Moore
went to see the film
Reservoir Dogs (1992) with several of her friends, one of them
laughingly mentioned that she resembled the character Mr. Pink (played
by Steve Buscemi) because of her tomboy attitude towards life. So when
she left her all girl trio Choice in 1998 to start her solo career,
she remembered their girlish conversation and decided to make Pink her
stage name.
Her debut solo album "Can't Take Me Home" sold more than five million
copies, and scored her first top-10 hit, "There You Go." She
then recorded a remake of the the LaBelle song "Lady
Marmalade"
with Mya, Christine Aguilera, and Lil' Kim for the film Moulin
Rouge (2001) which won Pink her first Grammy Award.
Pink has sold more than thirty million albums, won five MTV Video
Music Awards and two Grammies. She was rated No.13 on the list of
Artists of the Decade and No.1 Pop Song Artist of the Decade
(2000–2009). She has also scored eleven Billboard Hot 100 Top 10 US
hits, including eight as a solo artist, and has won three Grammy
Awards, and five MTV Video Music Awards Pink has been
rated by Forbes Magazine as number 27 in their Celebrity 100 of the
one hundred most powerful celebrities.
But among all of her litany of hits. the one that we love the most is
her music video "Stupid Girls" in which she Parodied Paris Hilton,
Nicole Richie .Lindsay Lohan, Mary-Kate Olsen, and several other
celebrities and celebutants who were poor choices as role models for
young girls, We also applaud her for her countless charity work
especially for the Human Rights Campaign, ONE Campaign, Run for the
Cure Foundation, Save the Children, Take Back the Night, UNICEF, and
PETA.
Pink married freestyle motocross
motorcycle racer Carey Hart who was also a cast member on the fifth
season of the VH1 reality show The Surreal Life. After
four years of dating, Pink proposed to Hart in 2005 via a pit board
during one of his races in Mammoth Lakes, California. She was holding
a sign saying "Will you marry me?" Initially, Hart ignored her and
completed another lap of the race. Only when Pink changed the sign and
held it up again with it now saying, "I'm serious," did Carey pull out
of the race to pick Pink up.
We debated on the perfect recipe to celebrate Pink's birthday. When
she commented that would win on "'Survivor" as long as she didn't have
to eat bugs, we considered Bug Lady Tofu
Pate. But we couldn't recommend that for one of our favorite
artists. So we recommend toasting her with a Pink Panties
Cocktail while watching her cameo in Rollerball (2002) as a
leather babe lip-syncing "Feel So Numb" before the games begin. In fact we suggest making two of these cocktails so you can enjoy a
pair of pink panties.
